春学期最後のお掃除
５月１８日に春学期最後のお掃除を行いました。
春学期最後ということもあって、参加者の数は今までより少し少なめでしたが、それでも時間を作って集まってくれる方で元気に始めることができました。
今回のお掃除ではOCCの一番近くにあるgrossery store "VONS”への道を中心に行いました。綺麗に見える場所でも、注意深く見るとたくさんのゴミが落ちています。タバコの吸い殻はもちろんプラスチック製品のものから時には金属製の製品を見つけたりします。先が突がっていたりするので、人や犬がよく通る道に落ちているのはとても危ないと感じました。また、お店が密集しているところには、タバコの吸い殻がやはりずば抜けて多いと感じます。
ゴミ拾いを通じでやはり人が集まる場所や人がよく利用する場所にゴが集中しているなと感じます。私たちが環境に日々どれほどの影響を与えているのかは測り知れません。私たち人間が意識を持つだけでも、環境保護に大きく貢献するのだと思いました。
また、以前のESECのクラスとのコラボで初めて参加してくれた方が来てくれているのを見て、今後もいろんなイベントをやりたいなっと思っています。
今学期もたくさんの方に支えられ、グリーンバードを盛り上げることができました。グリーンバードは夏休みの間も通常通り二週間に一回土曜日にお掃除を行います。
次回は６月１日の土曜日です。

On May 18, we held the last cleanup of the spring semester.
Since it was the last cleanup of the spring semester, the number of participants was a little smaller than in the past, but we were still able to start the day in good spirits with those who made time to gather.
This cleanup focused on the path to the “VONS” grocery store located closest to OCC. Even though the area looks clean, if we look carefully, we find a lot of trash. We found cigarette butts, plastic products, and sometimes metal products. I felt it was very dangerous to find them on the roads where people and dogs often pass by because of their pointed ends. In addition, I also felt that cigarette butts are the most common in areas where stores are densely located.
Through the trash pickup, I realized that garbage is concentrated in places where people gather and use frequently. It is impossible to measure how much impact we have on the environment on a daily basis. I realized that even if we humans only become aware of this, we can make a big contribution to environmental protection.
Also, seeing that the first participants came to the extra credit event in collaboration with a previous ESEC class, I would like to do many more events in the future.
With the support of many people this semester, we have been able to make greenbird a great success. greenbird will continue to clean up every Saturday every two weeks as usual during the summer break.
The next one will be on Saturday, June 1.
